How do I order a repeat prescription?

It is not usually possible to obtain a prescription without seeing the doctor unless you have been given a computerised repeat prescription sheet.

***From Monday 28th February 2022 the prescription telephone line and voicemail service for the requesting of repeat prescription ordering will no longer be available.***

There are several other ways to pre-order your repeat medication:-

  • E-mail your request to:  cmicb-cheshire.millcroftprescriptions@nhs.net
        – Repeat medication only
  • Post the tear-off slip from your repeat prescription to the surgery, drop it in at reception or in our outside letter-box. Your prescription will be sent electronically  directly to your nominated pharmacy.
  • Via the new ‘NHS App’ on your mobile phone or tablet, or the internet on Patient Access,  — see the page on ‘How do I register for on-line services’ to register for these services.
For information on how to order on behalf of another patient, please ask at Reception.

We do not ordinarily accept telephone requests to re-order items over the main practice telephone number.

Repeat prescriptions will be available two working days after they have been requested. This is the case even if they are being sent electronically. For example, if you make your request on Monday, the prescription can be collected on Wednesday. Please take note of our half-day closures for training – see News for dates.

Prescription charges from 1st April 2021 – £9.35 per item

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) now saves you time by avoiding unnecessary trips to your GP practice.  EPS makes it possible for your prescriptions to be sent electronically to the pharmacy or dispenser of your choice.

Choosing a pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to process your EPS prescription is called nomination.

This means you’ll no longer have to collect a paper repeat prescription from your GP practice – queuing to pick up your prescription from reception.  Instead, you can go straight to the nominated pharmacy or dispensing appliance contractor to pick up your medicines or medical appliances.  If you order your repeat prescription on-line, this will mean you can order your medication without calling into the GP practice at all.

Because your pharmacist has already received your electronic prescription, they may be able to prepare your items in advance, so you just have to pick it up with no extra wait. However, this depends on the capacity of pharmacists on the day, and may not be possible all the time.

EPS is the default option for the prescribing, dispensing and reimbursement of prescriptions in primary care in England, therefore Millcroft Medical Centre send all prescriptions electronically wherever possible, so please nominate a pharmacy next time you call into your surgery.

You can find more information on this service here.
